SECURITIES INDUSTRY TECHNOLOGIST LAUNCHES JUDO SYSTEMS
Company to provide advanced technology platform to securities brokerages in Asian emerging markets
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (January 2, 2008) — Entrepreneur Tony Long Mai announced today the formal launch of Judo Systems, a company focused on developing technology solutions for securities brokerages in emerging markets. The company’s flagship product, Judo Advanced Brokerage System (ABS), is undergoing quality assurance testing, and the company expects to sell and implement its solution later this year in its first target market, Vietnam.
“The economy – and specifically the capital markets – in Vietnam have been experiencing phenomenal growth over the past few years,” explained Mai. “As one would expect in an emerging market, securities brokerages are competing feverishly to establish themselves. The problem is that there is a real vacuum in terms of utilizing modern technology to support those businesses. We see an incredible opportunity to bring the best approaches to operating a brokerage – knowledge and experience that required years of evolution in the most advanced capital markets – by designing them into a technology platform for the Vietnam securities industry.”
The systems available to securities brokerages in Vietnam lack critical functionality, consistency with global standards, and ease of use. Additionally, applications are not integrated, resulting in critical data quality issues. Furthermore, operating on inadequate technology will likely not support the scalability of the business, so there will come a time when the infrastructure reaches capacity and/or becomes too cost-prohibitive to maintain. A brokerage that selects the wrong technology upfront faces the prospect of future system interruptions and conversions – potentially leaving the company at a severe disadvantage to a competitor who selects the right technology.
“Judo ABS has been designed as an intuitive, fully integrated and highly scalable platform that incorporates all of the complex global standards from the most advanced capital markets,” Mai added. “We look forward to completing our product development soon and to begin marketing our solution.”
